Walter Satterthwait - Miss Lizzie THE RETURN OF MISS LIZZIE An Astounding, Amazing Offer. Three of them, actually. I'm pleased to announce that my book MISS LIZZIE is now available in three different formats. Some of you may know that first American editions of LIZZIE are selling for anything from $350 to $700. It's always been one of my own favorites among my books, and over the years a number of people have expressed a certain fondness for it. Until now, they've been able to read it only in a library edition, and many of them have asked when they might be able to get a reasonably-priced copy of their own. Well, now they can. Actually, they can get any one of three different editions:
Anyone who'd like a signed copy of this edition (or signed and inscribed) can order it directly by sending a cashier's check or a money order for $25.00 to CG Designs; P.O. Box 29321; Santa Fe NM 87592. If you send a personal check, please remember that it will take at least a week to clear. And if you do want the book inscribed, please let me know how, and to whom, I should inscribe it. For express mail, add another two bucks.
Lizzie Borden strikes again! Or does she? The year is 1921. Women have received the right to vote, prohibition has become the law of the land, and a generation has passed since the brutal murders in Fall River of Andrew Borden and his wife - murders for which their daughter, Lizzie, was tried and acquitted, murders that an entire nation remains convinced she was responsible for. During her summer vacation along the Massachusetts shore, young Amanda Burton befriends her elderly next-door neighbor - the notorious Lizzie Borden. When Amanda finds the remains of her stepmother, who has been brutally axe-murdered, her secure world is instantly turned upside down. The police are certain they know the culprit: Miss Lizzie - especially since the crime bears an uncanny resemblance to the Fall River slayings. With the inquisitive spirit of a thirteen-year-old, Amanda closely monitors the investigation and looks toward Miss Lizzie for support. Together the duo overcomes the bad feelings of the townfolk, and with the help of a hard-boiled Pinkerton agent and a suave local lawyer, Miss Lizzie sets out to clear her name. Before the novel reaches its climax, Miss Lizzie's search uncovers the secrets that lie beneath the sleepy surface of a small seaside town, and whether she wills it or not, the events of what happened that torrid August day thirty years before.
