Speak To My Heart by Stacy Hawkins Adams
Speak To My Heart
Serena Jasper’s career has hit the fast track, her future looks promising, and her mother couldn’t be more proud. Then Mama shares a devastating secret, and Serena reacts by fleeing from her family and her faith. As she throws herself into her thriving career and a new friendship with a handsome seminary student, she discovers she can no longer avoid God’s voice or Mama’s revelation. Will she come to terms with her mother’s past, her relationships, and the One who was always speaking to her heart before it’s too late to make amends?
· Review Quotes/Appeal Factors:
“Love triumphs in Speak To My Heart, a delightful debut novel that is sure to tug at your heart as the story weaves an emotionally charged tale seasoned with romance, despair and forgiveness.” – Patricia Haley, author of No Regrets and Blind Faith“Speak To My Heart is an engrossing book with believable characters that engage you from the first page to the last.” – Jacquelin Thomas, author of Prodigal Husband and Soul Journey
· What is it about this book that would appeal to a reader?
While Speak To My Heart focuses on the main character’s journey of faith, it is not written in a preachy style. Anyone struggling with self-acceptance, anger and the need to forgive, or how to love others despite their imperfections will find this book both entertaining and therapeutic.
* What other books are like it?
This book is similar to novels written by Jacquelin Thomas (Singsation, The Prodigal Husband), Patricia Haley (No Regrets, Blind Faith), Victoria Christopher Murray (Temptation, Truth Be Told) and Kimberla Lawson Roby (Casting The First Stone).
· What would you like readers to know about you/your work?
As with many novelists, I have captured themes from my own life experiences in these pages, however Speak To My Heart is completely fictional. My work as a journalist who writes about socioeconomic issues, family relationships and spirituality also has given me a broad landscape of material from which to create true-to-life characters. Speak To My Heart primarily has African American characters, but readers from all walks of life will be able to relate to the issues explored in the novel.
· What’s next, what can readers look forward to in the future?
I am currently working on my second novel for Revell Books, which will be a sequel to Speak To My Heart. It is scheduled for release in Spring 2006.
