FAIRWAY TO HEAVEN

· Description:

FAIRWAY TO HEAVEN is the fourth book in the series featuring neurotic but lovable LPGA golfer Cassie Burdette. In FAIRWAY, Cassie finally sees her golf game come alive at a three-tour tournament in Pinehurst, NC. Her teammates include her estranged father (playing for the Champions Tour) and her soon-to-be-ex boyfriend, a fictional PGA Tour player. Unfortunately, Burdette is also playing the reluctant maid of honor in a Pinehurst society wedding. Add in the disappearance of the bride's father, and Burdette's subsequent amateur sleuthing, and the ingredients are all there for a fast-moving murder mystery.

· Review Quotes/Appeal Factors:
"Isleib definitely shoots under par with FAIRWAY TO HEAVEN." Donna Andrews, 6-time LPGA Tour winner

"Isleib demonstrates her knowledge of golf, while still attracting readers who have never done more than putt balls over a moat and through a spinning windmill."-January Magazine

· What is it about this book that would appeal to a reader?

Even readers who despise golf seem to enjoy Cassie's struggles to succeed in her career and her love life. She has a big appetite, a sharp sense of humor, and very little future as a PI!

· What other books are like it?

Humorous amateur detective mysteries with well-developed characters--Deborah Donnelly, Janet Evanovich, GH Ephron...

· What does this work have in common with other works in the same genre?

This is a "soft-boiled" amateur sleuth series with a cast of characters that move from book to book, and a low emphasis on violence and the technicalities of solving the crimes.

· How is this work different from other works in the same genre?

The golf world setting is unusual. Also, given my training as a clinical psychologist, I like to imagine that the psychological issues of the characters are realistic and interesting.

· What would you like readers to know about you/your work?

I'm a clinical psychologist who took up writing about golf in order to justify the time spent on the links. In addition to writing about the sport I love, I try to depict realistic aspects of my mental health profession to counter the wacky images often portrayed in the popular media. My debut novel, SIX STROKES UNDER (Berkley Prime Crime, 2002) was nominated for an Agatha award for Best First Mystery and an Anthony for Best Paperback Original. A BURIED LIE (2003) and PUTT TO DEATH (2004) have followed. My articles have also appeared in golf and mystery magazines.

· What¹s next, what can readers look forward to in the future?

I just finished the first draft of FINAL FORE, the fifth Cassie Burdette novel, that will appear in March 2006. It takes place at the US Women's Open golf tournament in South Hadley, MA.

· Suggested reading (viewing, listening) - what have you liked, disliked recently?

The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
Skinny-dipping by Claire Matturo
Becoming Finola by Suzanne Strempek Shea
Every Secret Thing by Laura Lippmann
